1. Introduction

Ruming (ruming.app) provides personalised readings and decision guidance grounded in Ziwei Doushu and Qimen Dunjia, two traditional Chinese systems. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

2. Information we collect

Account information: the email address you register with, used for authentication and for communications relating to the service.

Information you provide: birth details (date, time and place of birth, and gender) required to prepare your readings, and the content you submit when using the service. Where you provide details relating to another person, you confirm that you are authorised to do so.

Transaction information: records of your plan, purchases and subscriptions. Payments are processed by our payment provider; we do not store card details.

Technical information: limited log data generated in the ordinary operation of the service, retained for security and reliability purposes.

3. How we use information

To provide the services you request, including preparing your charts and readings and delivering content you have subscribed to.

To administer accounts, process transactions, and send communications relating to the service.

To maintain the security, integrity, and reliability of the service, and to comply with our legal obligations.

Readings are generated by automated means, including artificial-intelligence technology. Your information is not sold and is not used for third-party advertising.

4. Legal bases

We process personal information under the following legal bases as recognised by UK data protection law: performance of a contract (providing the service you have requested); legitimate interests (maintaining the security and proper operation of the service); compliance with legal obligations (including record-keeping requirements); and consent, where we have sought it, which you may withdraw at any time.

5. Disclosure of information

We engage a limited number of service providers to operate the service, in the categories of hosting, data storage, email delivery, AI processing, and payment processing. These providers process information on our instructions and only to the extent necessary to provide their services.

We may disclose information where required by law, regulation, or legal process, or where necessary to protect our rights, our users, or the public.

We do not sell personal information.

6. International transfers

Our service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom, principally in the United States. Where information is transferred internationally, we rely on safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, including the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and standard contractual clauses.

7. Data retention

Account information and information you have provided are retained for as long as your account remains active. Upon deletion of your account, such information is removed from our production systems.

Transaction records are retained for the period required by applicable tax and accounting law.

Technical log data is retained for a limited period and then deleted.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal information; to restrict or object to certain processing; to receive a copy of your information in a portable format; and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

You may also delete your information, or your entire account, at any time from within the service.

9. Cookies

The service uses only cookies that are necessary for its operation: your sign-in session and your language preference. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.

10. Security

We maintain appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit and at rest and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is entirely secure; we encourage you to contact us promptly at hello@ruming.app with any security concern.

11. Children

The service is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16; if we become aware that we have done so, we will delete the information and close the account.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a revised date.
